About Me

Cheers to New Beginnings

Well, here we are, launching a brand new blog!

In order for my readers to get to know me, I will share a brief intro (or at least I’ll try to keep it brief.)

I am a newly married wife, a homemaker and an aspiring stay-at-home-Mom. For the present I still work outside the home part time, continuing with the job I had before I was married.

Although I now live in a cute little house in the middle of town with all the latest conveniences, my life hasn’t always been this easy.

In fact, I grew up on a small family farm with no electricity where we grew almost all our own food and made all home-cooked meals from scratch, every day, for our family of ten. We also raised a lot of different farm animals over the years including horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, geese, turkeys, ducks, rabbits, dogs and cats.

Because of my farming experiences while growing up I learned numerous homesteading skills which many people in America today have no experience with, and for that I am truly grateful. I actually wrote up a list of all the skills I either learned myself or saw in action on our home farm growing up, when I was preparing to write this blog post, but the list was 32 items long, and I thought it’s just too much to add in here. Maybe someday, if someone really wants that list, I could type it out and send it to you, but for now, I’ll just make it short and say; I helped with growing basically all the garden veggies and fruits that would grow in our area, I helped with canning and drying the bulk of our food supply, I learned how to sew clothes, quilts etc. I could make cheese, butter and yogurt, I baked bread and pies. I made noodles, I spun wool and weaved at a loom, I knitted and crocheted, I helped with butchering both large and small animals, I stuffed sausage and made headcheese, I hand-milked cows and goats, I helped with the annual sheep shearing, and lambing, I made soap and candles plus more..

To this day I still have a passion for the homesteading life and to be able to raise our own food and know what we’re eating. It’s such a blessing to work hand in hand with God’s creation and see the fruits of our labors as the animals prosper and the plants flourish while the pantry gets stocked with clean, healthy supplies.

However, I DO love the modern conveniences I have now and blending those together with the DIY lifestyle where I can live independent from today’s food systems and toxic product use, is my long term goal, along with living a life of worshipping and glorifying my King, Jesus.

If these are subjects of interest for you as well – feel free to follow along as I share bits and pieces of any of the above in my upcoming blog posts. I will be happy to share homemaking tips, cooking tips, healthier lifestyle choices, healthy mindsets, and homesteading tips as I continue to press onward on my journey toward my goals.

Looking forward to seeing you on the next post. Until then – adios!
